Your diagnosis of the problem was quite correct as one of the wires on the receiver unit was loose. Once tightened everything worked fine thanks for the help. As an eighty year old I found the step by step instructions very easy to follow. I though it was going to be much more difficult given the price the local caravan shop had quoted for a fitted unit.
